SUSPECT
NON-OWNER WORLD AFFILIATECase #32821 - OTM FIB
This case was originally in a book, sitting around in the offended parties’ properties, just available for the taking. Calling it ever a classified case is a stretch, but it technically was.
Normally case numbers are random, but the Our Town Ministry decided to name this after the date this crime occurred (3/28/2021).
To be honest with the people of Our Town, the Ministry has let its defense down. The SUSPECT was very possibly a known threat to the properties and people of the town and was already in question by the Ministry behind their back.
This player was left without a thought will multiple safeguards, such as Operator permissions, and the Insider Tag.
Because of this, the few automated defense systems for anti-griefing that the OTM had implemented at the time exempted the SUSPECT like it does with Operators/Insiders. Furthermore, if the defense systems still had worked, the SUSPECT had the power and permissions to disable them.So what was this crime?
Nearing the time of the incident, the SUSPECT was starting to have a disagreement with the NON-OWNER WORLD AFFILIATE for unrelated reasons; The SUSPECT eventually decided to attack parts of the Our Town server to get revenge over this disagreement.
At the SUSPECT’s discretion, and because the security measures weren’t effective against them, they blew up multiple buildings, properties, structures, and other parts of the Our Town world using Ender Crystals taken from the Creative Inventory.Bedrock Blocks were left at the explosion sites indicating the Ender Crystals were manually placed upon the bedrock (and that it was also manually placed). Manually placing it requires having the item in your inventory, and the SUSPECT got this easily since all players are in Creative Mode in Our Town. The SUSPECT Blew up the following buildings:
Building Owner City Hall OT2 OTM NeXT Tower OT2 NeXT Statue of OT2 OT2 OT2 News Tower OT2/World Affiliate OT2 CIA OTM NeXT Tower OT1 NeXT Private Property World Affiliate Private Property Random World Player Finding the suspect
Due to the fact that Our Town is a Minecraft: Bedrock Edition Dedicated Server with a Server Console, we can view when players are online. We can view who’s online. When they are online. When they go offline.
We can look at exactly who joined and who didn’t and identify differences based on that period of time. When players stopped playing, there was no evidence of any grief. After the SUSPECT joined, however, it was clear the world was griefed, and it was clear that the SUSPECT had committed the act.The SUSPECT was banned permanently from the world. Their citizenship profile record was updated. Alt accounts lack the necessary power to grief, now. Case 32821 had come to an end.
